Common questions

The audio stops when I lock my phone.

On iOS, make sure Softly is allowed to keep playing in the background — this is on by default and should not need any toggling. If you installed via TestFlight and audio cuts out at the lock screen, fully quit the app (swipe up from the multitasking view), reopen, and tap play again. If the issue persists, email [email protected] with your device model and iOS version.

I can't see the lock-screen play/pause controls.

Lock-screen controls appear after you've started playback at least once. If the Now Playing widget doesn't appear, lock the device, wait two seconds, then tap the screen to wake it — iOS sometimes takes a moment to register the audio session.

How do I use the sleep timer?

On the player screen, tap the timer icon and choose a duration. When the timer runs out the audio gently fades to silence over the last 60 seconds instead of cutting off abruptly.

How do I download a sound for offline use?

Open any sound's player screen and tap Download. The MP3 is saved to your phone's private app storage. Manage or delete downloads under Settings → Downloads.

Does Softly cost anything?

No. Every sound, the sleep timer, offline downloads, lock-screen playback — all free. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, no ads, and no in-app purchases.

Do I need an account?

No. Softly has no accounts and no sign-in. Your preferences and downloads live only on your device — see our privacy policy for the full breakdown.

The app crashes on launch.

Try the usual sequence: force-quit Softly, restart the device, and relaunch. If the crash continues, email [email protected] with the device model, iOS version, and a short description of what you were doing when the crash happened.

How do I delete all my data?

Uninstall Softly — iOS will delete all of the app's downloads and preferences. The app stores nothing on a server, so uninstalling is a full reset.

Email [email protected] with as much detail as you can: device model, iOS version, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. Screenshots or short screen recordings help a lot.
